Abstract:
The great (and soon to be retired) Tim Coonan of Channel Islands National Park takes a few minutes during a beach-side break to update us with the most recent island fox (Urocyon littoralis) numbers on the Channel Islands. Santa Rosa Island has an estimated 1,200! An amazing conservation success story, the recovery of island foxes is truly a great example that illustrates it is possible to pull critters back from the brink of extinction and that human impacts on the natural world can be reversed.
We recorded this at Scorpion Bay in Santa Cruz Island on October 24, 2015.
