Abstract:
Stan Reshes was the editor of Inside Leisure Village newspaper for 8 years, January 2008 thru January 2016. This picture was printed on a canvas and framed and presented to Stan as a thank you for what he accomplished.
Stan’s accomplishments were plenty, the newspaper went to color the 2nd year he was editor, the paper grew from 20 pages to a 32 pages, California State University Channel Islands sign an agreement to digitize 40 years accumulations of Inside Leisure Village newspapers, and as editor, Stan maintained a high level of professionalism with his staff that helped make all this possible.
The photograph, created by his photo editor, Jerry Spector, represents the similarity of his term as editor and the story of Chanukah, a holiday Stan Reshes and his family celebrate every year.
Stan thought that he would be editor for 1 year but in fact he lasted 8. In the year 3622, the Macabees returned to Jerusalem to liberate it and as they entered a temple, they found a small cruse of pure oil. They thought it would last for 1 day but it lasted for 8 which is why the Jewish people celebrate Chanukah for 8 days. The picture of the Menorah represents 8 years of Stan’s dedication as the editor of Inside Leisure Village newspaper. Each candle holder has the January issue of each year Stan was editor. The raised center candle has the 2008 issue when Stan was handed the reins as editor.
