Camarillo Springs Fire

On May 2, 2013 a small fire erupted adjacent to the 101 Freeway in Camarillo Springs, CA in the early morning. The fire grew throughout the day and, by 10:00 am, the University closed, directing all students, faculty, staff and University Glen residents to evacuate. The fire burned a total of 24,251 acres in an area roughly bordered by the 101 Freeway to the North, Lewis Rd. to the West, the Bony Mountains to the East, and the Pacific Ocean to the South. Despite the fire’s proximity to the University and University Glen, no property was damaged. In this collection there are photos taken my members of the CSU Channel Islands community from a variety of perspectives in and around CI and University Glen.
